FAITH BASED & COMMUNITY INITIATIVES
White House Conferences on Faith Based & Community Initiatives have
been set to explain Federal funding opportunities, provide grant writing workshops,
and give insight into successful practices from other organizations. Conferences
are free, but you must register. Visit www.fbci.gov to access online registration.
Information can be obtained at 202/456-6718 or fbci@dtihq.com.
The conferences have several tracks of workshops and are co-hosted by the White
House, the Office of Faith-Based and Community initiatives and the United States
Departments of Justice, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban
Development and Education.
This could be crucial information as you explore ways to fund ministry to your
community. Some churches have set up separate 501(c)3 corporations to manage
new ministries made possible through this funding. This workshop should give
the necessary information to get started. It is designed to help faith-based
and community organizations compete on an equal footing for Federal dollars,
receive greater private support and face fewer bureaucratic barriers.
This may be an opportunity for your congregation to lift people's lives in
ways beyond the ability of the government.
